happyfish: (Leaf on the Wind)
Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone. :) I had a pretty good birthday, though it was bloody cold. Apparently it's already six degrees right now, and it's only 8:30. Oh Calgary weather, how I don't understand you.

Tuesday was lots of classes. I got up at 5:30 because of the snow, in the hopes that if I left two hours early for class, I might actually make it on time. I ended up being fifteen minutes early. We had our 'midterms' in FBRE, where we pretty much just talked to Laura and she let us know how we were doing. I'm doing pretty good in the class, which is nice to hear, since I really like it. Spent the rest of the day working on my miniature baskets. The one I've just finished is about the size of a sugar cube. Because I'm insane. :D English class was canceled because Chris was sick, so I spent lunch hanging out with Felix, Lacy and Red instead. I'm not used to having lunch hour free. There was much geekery and checking out of hot girls. It was grand.

My brother, Ben, and his wife Amanda took me out to dinner after school on Tuesday. I decided on Chinese, so we went to the little Chinese buffet out by my place. It was really good. I probably ate more than I should, but whatever. :p I almost never go out for dinner. I realized how much Ben is not a part of my life anymore. Which shouldn't be surprising, I guess. I'm not really a part of his life that much either.

According to my fortune, I'm going to have success in my endeavors. Good to know.

Wednesday was grocery shopping and researching for my Paper of Doooom. Seriously, I'm going to end up dreaming of Frida Kahlo soon. It will be - interesting. I think I'm at the point where I might be able to start writing my rough draft today. Bozenna says that if we hand in our papers Monday, than she'll have them marked by Thursday. Which is either craziness, or her understanding that we probably aren't going to have our papers done by Monday. But! I might try. Just to get it done. Maybe I'll actually get to hang out with friends that way. You never know.

Did a birthday reading using the Faerie's Oracle yesterday. (Here's a link to the online version. It's shiny). Lots of references to jouneys, either new or old journeys branching off in new directions, and friendship. Lots and lots of friendship.

Life is good. :)

In other news, my brother is getting married. He proposed to his girlfriend on Christmas day and she accepted. (duh). They're going to be married this summer, and already the planning is starting with renting halls for the reception and getting marriage magazines. Craziness. I kind of want to avoid it as much as possible, thanks, though once it gets closer to the actual date I know I'm going to be dragged in to help. Though Dad said that I don't have to wear a dress or anything to the wedding, and that makes me feel a lot better.
First day of school today. Sculpture 101 or something. Seems like a good class, interesting teacher. One of my classmates (whom I know from Fibre and AHIS last term) is in both of my other classes, which is kind of cool. She's the cute, bubbly goth type and made a disemboweled rabbit for one of her projects. It was kind of cute. >.>
Anyway, it was good to get out of the house, I guess. The doctor put me on antidepressants, which will take a month to work, and told me to stop cutting NOW. He was really cool. I like him.
That's all for now, I guess.

I can't deal with more than point form right now.

1. I am alive and will continue to be so.
2. I have a final tomorrow that I've barely studied for.
3. My brother came home last Friday.
4. My parents are coming home on Thursday.
5. Dom is very ill, and doesn't like my brother.
6. I haven't started buying Christmas and/or birthday presents yet.
7. My brother is slowly turning out to be like my mother...aka completely anal and nags a lot.
8. Fake Mustache was awesome, and we got a ride home.

My brother left for Australia early yesterday, leaving me with a cat and a mess. It's kind of weird to think that he's gone, but at least this way I don't get comments about me not eating meat. Not until I get a room-mate anyway.
I don't really know what else to write. Classes are pretty cool. Fibre has to be my favourite so far, what with the cozy sewing and chatting thing (which will soon change once we start doing the paper project), with Painting a close second. Though I still have to find ten flat surfaces to paint that are different from the twenty flat surfaces I've already painted. *sigh* Maybe I just shouldn't show up to class, except he's giving out the project sheet for the class after that, so I kind of have to. Unless I can get Kaitlyn to give me a sheet when I see her in Drawing. ponderage...
I've been making friends, or at least acquaintences, which is nice. It's also really neat to run into people who also don't watch tv! Most of the time when I tell someone I don't watch any I get stared at like I'm some alien beast sent to take over the world. At ACAD, people just go, "Oh, I don't watch tv either." Amazing.
Kind of tired. Should go finish making lunch.
Fake Moustache in less than a week. Hurrah!

So, apparently last weekend my parents told Ben that they're staying in Saudi for another year. Huh. And Ben's off to Hillsong to become some youth minister or something like that. I don't know what he wants to do with his life. But he's leaving in January, so that means I'm here with the house for at least six months by myself. He'll probably sell me the place. A home-owner. At nineteen. Sheesh. Thing is, when Mom and Dad talked to me on Saturday, they didn't say a thing about whether they were coming back or no. Don't you think that should be important enough to mention? Not that I don't trust my brother or anything, I just wish they could have said. They just talked about finances and the weather and other things that we usually talk about.
I finally have my learner's license now. I only could have got it since I turned fourteen. >.< I didn't really think it was worth it, though, seeing as I was leaving the country and women can't drive in the good ol' Kingdom of S.A. And plus I was lazy. :P But I have it now, and Ben bought me a cinnamon bun in celebration. I actually ate a lot of cinnamon buns this weekend.
I also finally got some new work shoes, so I can now go to work without the ever-so-handy ventilation in my shoes. XD I actually got the same exact pair that I had before. Couldn't think of a good reason to change them. And some impractical strappy two-inch monstrosities that I'll never be able to walk in. Heh. I just had the incredible urge to buy impractical shoes. I blame America's Next Top Model. Ben just shook his head when I showed up in the bookstore with two boxes of shoes instead of one, especially once I did the half-guilty smile and said: 'They were on sale.' But I mean, $15 for a pair of nice shoes. How can you resist?
I want to make shoe-related icons now.
I went over to Caro's around suppertime on Saturday. We were supposedly going to go to swing dancing, but we felt lazy, and couldn't get a ride there. So we decided to finish watching 'Army of Darkness,' which is a really old B-rated horror-ish movie, with an undead army done in shaky claymation and a fountain of blood. After that was over, they played this movie called 'Top of the Food Chain.' Interesting, ne? We thought we'd see if it was any good, and if not, we'd watch the Labyrinth again.
It was bloody amazing! I don't know how to describe it in ways that won't make it sound completely horrible, but they mixed it all together to make a completely brilliant movie. With wonderful lines like: 'that lumpy bumpy hilly part of town outside of town.' And man-eating aliens, incest, polygamy, fish, bondage, homosexuality and Jesus saving the world through the wonders of cool fusion, which somehow involved shoving a metal crucifix into a sattelite box. It was made in Canada. Somehow, that didn't really surprise me. XD
Stayed in bed until noon today. :P Darn that daylight savings.
Then Ben and I went to go see Ice Age 2 today, with our future room-mate named Chris and his fiancee named Brenda. Good movie, but there are far to many CG movies with cute animals coming out. It's starting to get kind of tiring. I do kind of want to see Over the Hedge, though. Maybe when it comes out on video.
Oh, and I randomly discovered a while ago that Thalie has white feet. o.x I don't know if it's a temporary thing or what. It's better than her randomly being gold with angel wings or something. ^_~
