Catching Up

Life's been pretty quiet recently. Which is kind of nice. The end of school was uneventful, although I stressed myself out learning dates for my AHIS final when I apparently didn't need to. English was an open-book exam. Easy A+. This semester has done wonders for my GPA. I got an A+ in Art History, an A in English and a B+ in Fibre and Mixed Media. Clearly the best semester ever. Except that part where I ended up being late for my final Fibre crit, which was sort of embarassing.
Kait's birthday party was Friday. Omg Wolverine! GLEE! And then tea at Oolong, and Twisted dancing. I was about to fall over by the end of the night, but it was awesome.
I don't get living expenses now that school is done, which makes a lot of sense, but makes me really need a job right away. My plan is to work my ass off for a couple of months and then take August off. Travel and such. Kait and I might fly down to Vancouver for Vancouver Pride to visit Trevor (and Sasha and Connor), which would be awesome. And then there's Camp Fyrefly, which I need to remember to apply to, and my cousin James' wedding at the end of the month. And I just want time off to relax and do nothing, without starving to death. That would be nice.
MYN is going crazy (in a mostly good way). The Laramie Project performances are the fourteenth to sixteenth, and there's a lot of panic going on about that. People in Calgary at that time really need to go see this play. I saw the first act after the board meeting yesterday and nearly cried. It was so amazing. And that was without the lights or proper stage or anything. And we're also hosting a youth dance in June, which I volunteered to help run. My first time organizing something, really. It's pretty exciting. I'm running it with Jen and Laura, so I'm expecting everything to go as smoothly as they can. Because we are awesome and are going to attack the whole thing with lists and spreadsheets. (Exel! Yay!)
Anyway, I'm off to make posters and write lists. Oh lists.

Blarg!

Last weekend was pretty good. Saturday was Angels and Demons Carnival, which as far as I know was the last fundraiser for Laramie. Dunno. I was there just after two to help out with decorations and setting up, which was cool but made for a really long day. Up and down ladders for a couple hours, and I really don't like ladders. It ended up looking really freaking cool, though.
It was a little cool and windy for the carnival games. I didn't do any - I have very limited spending cash for the rest of the month (and the beginning of May) and then I had to eat and get into costume. Still, it looked like the wind and the not-warmth didn't stop anyone from participating, and the fire-spinner looked really awesome. The show was amazing, of course. I performed the mime number to great applause. Everyone seems to love that one. *shrugs* It was fun. I'd still have to say my favourite number was Cian performing 'Gasolina' in drag, and belly-dancing along with the belly-dancers (who weren't in drag). Videos here.
Spend Sunday doing nothing. It was nice. I've finished both my final exams, which both went fantastically. Although I didn't need to spend all that time memorizing the dates, but whatever. All I've left is the final crit for Fibre tomorrow and then I am done! It's marvelously relieving. I'm going to spend the rest of the week sleeping. And by sleeping I mean going to see Dr. J again, and then baking and generally preparing for the this weekend. I have two birthday parties, the Comic Expo, and a concert. It's going to be insane. Awesome, but insane.
Gah, I'm tired. Going to bed now.

I have new library books. This makes me happy.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone. :) I had a pretty good birthday, though it was bloody cold. Apparently it's already six degrees right now, and it's only 8:30. Oh Calgary weather, how I don't understand you.

Tuesday was lots of classes. I got up at 5:30 because of the snow, in the hopes that if I left two hours early for class, I might actually make it on time. I ended up being fifteen minutes early. We had our 'midterms' in FBRE, where we pretty much just talked to Laura and she let us know how we were doing. I'm doing pretty good in the class, which is nice to hear, since I really like it. Spent the rest of the day working on my miniature baskets. The one I've just finished is about the size of a sugar cube. Because I'm insane. :D English class was canceled because Chris was sick, so I spent lunch hanging out with Felix, Lacy and Red instead. I'm not used to having lunch hour free. There was much geekery and checking out of hot girls. It was grand.

My brother, Ben, and his wife Amanda took me out to dinner after school on Tuesday. I decided on Chinese, so we went to the little Chinese buffet out by my place. It was really good. I probably ate more than I should, but whatever. :p I almost never go out for dinner. I realized how much Ben is not a part of my life anymore. Which shouldn't be surprising, I guess. I'm not really a part of his life that much either.

According to my fortune, I'm going to have success in my endeavors. Good to know.

Wednesday was grocery shopping and researching for my Paper of Doooom. Seriously, I'm going to end up dreaming of Frida Kahlo soon. It will be - interesting. I think I'm at the point where I might be able to start writing my rough draft today. Bozenna says that if we hand in our papers Monday, than she'll have them marked by Thursday. Which is either craziness, or her understanding that we probably aren't going to have our papers done by Monday. But! I might try. Just to get it done. Maybe I'll actually get to hang out with friends that way. You never know.

Did a birthday reading using the Faerie's Oracle yesterday. (Here's a link to the online version. It's shiny). Lots of references to jouneys, either new or old journeys branching off in new directions, and friendship. Lots and lots of friendship.

Life is good. :)

+ Finished my Modernisms paper and handed it in on time.
+ Got a new bus pass.
+ Did well on my presentation for FBRE212.
+ Had an awesome time at the second Art Thing. Drank lots of tea.
- Called Dr. J today to try and book an appointment, only to be told that I'd have to go in when he does his walk-ins, 'cause I'm not considered one of his patients.
- Cried after I hung up because I hate phones and looking/sounding like an idiot.
- Didn't go grocery shopping until after seven because I was recovering from the phone call.
- Missed my bus, and decided to walk instead of wait because it was so fucking cold.
+ Bought soy ice cream sandwiches. Which are yummy. :P
+ Have milk and bread again, and food to eat that isn't stew or porridge.
- Haven't started my English paper yet, and I really want to go to the Art Thing tomorrow night instead of working on it.
- Still haven't shoveled the sidewalk.

Fibre and Mixed Media (FBRE212) - Seems like it will be challenging, but fun. It will be nice to work in three dimensions once more, and to have a class where making garments is something required instead of something I sneak in. I already have an idea for my survival garment, which makes me feel somewhat dorky, because it's the second or third project. I don't really know anyone in the class, something I find kind of strange.
English is still bizarre but entertaining. I finally bought all of my required texts. 'The Yellow Wallpaper' is another story in the book, and another one that I read in high school. Kind of makes me wonder if my high school was crazy challenging or something. *scratches head*

Am hanging out with Trevor tomorrow! Yay. :)

I dunno. Life is good.
