  • I'm so busy I should probably cry. Just for the de-stressing impact that it would have.
  • I have a table full of glittery tentacles behind me, which I will soon add rhinestone 'suckers' to. For school. And it will probably take me all night.
  • Cuttlefish casting = WIN. I made a tiny silver tree, and now I want to make MORE tiny silver trees so I can have a tiny silver tree forest. Because it will be awesome.
  • I might possibly get my hollow construction ring done by the end of term.
  • Trevor is coming to Calgary! And staying at my house! Which will hopefully be clean and full of food when he gets here. *crosses fingers*
  • Yeah, that's it. Oh wait -
  • I need to get laid. srsly.

The Mount Royal Gender Bender was last night. It was, frankly, kind of a gong show. All the kings were there, prepared and on time (we've had punctuality beaten into us over the years). But we had no idea what we were really doing in terms of when we were performing or how long of a time-slot we had; the guy in charge of organizing the entire event wouldn't get back to Trevor, who was in charge of organizing the kings. The other people performing didn't even show up until eleven. It started at nine, or was supposed to. I think we actually started performing at ten, and there were about ten people in the audience. Half of them were drunk out of their minds.

The kings performed well, and so did the Rocky Horror people. I admit that after a while I stopped caring and just didn't want to be there. I've been kind of morose lately. A mixture of starting to get sick and some news from a friend that wasn't actually surprising, but I'm still somewhat bitter about it anyway. And I don't know why.

Also ended up inadvertently volunteering for the U of C Gender Bender. Now I have to pick a song and try and figure out when I have to be there. I'm a little excited for that one, I admit. It was an amazing show last year. There will certainly be people there, and apparently I need an audience to feed off of or I just kind of feel like an idiot.

Finally got to see my adoptive nephew yesterday, though. Two-week old Koda, who was quite grumpy and reminded me within five minutes of walking in the door that I am nervous around children. They're like aliens. Kind of cool, but totally from a different planet. Trevor is so good with him, though. It's totally adorable.

I've been home for two and a half hours now and I'm finally starting to feel warm. I can probably get rid of this before it gets worse and makes me miss school (or worse! A drag show!), so I'm not too worried. Just sort of sore and gross feeling. I'm just glad that I waited to get sick until after the Paper of Dooooom was handed in.

Also, about the snow? What the fuck. Thanks a lot, weather gods. I hate you too.

It's perfect for making snowmen, though. If only I felt up to it.

This is the second  Valentine's Day where I've been single. Which I don't actually find that interesting. You know what's interesting? I've had this journal for four years. I've been talking to Thal for almost four years, which I find to be almost mind-boggling, even though I knew when I started that it wasn't exactly going to be something I was just going to stop doing. Went to TDF yesterday to poke about. Can't remember my password, or even the email address I set the account up under. Don't know if I want to do anything about that yet. Still want to get a kinkajou tattoo. I don't even know if that's our settled form at all, if it's really what represents us best. It's just what she is. Which works for us, so whatever.

Went swing dancing last night. Glee! I went with Sasha and Trevor, who is out of the hospital again. Hurrah! It was fun, although I almost got a blister from dancing way too much, and my legs were so sore this morning I could barely walk. I need to go check out the registration for beginner lindy lessons that start next week. Must learn how to lead, darnit.

The guy-with-the-suspenders-whose-real-name-is-Eric (hereafter to be referred to as 'Suspenders-Eric) is kind of cute. And has an accent that might be Australian. Which is also cute.

I freaking love blues dancing. xD

I went to go get bloodwork done this morning. It went well, and I was done before my transfer expired. (The security guy who does the new student IDs was sick yesterday, so I can't get one until Tuesday. Oh well). Felt kind of tired, so I slept all morning. The lady who did it was super nice and friendly. I love being able to eat again. And drink coffee. Oh, coffee.

Going to bum around the house for the rest of today. Do some cleaning. Eat some chocolate. My plans for the evening are to cuddle up with the cat and watch 'Priscilla: Queen of the Desert.'

Trevor's in the hospital again.

ETA: He's fine. Relatively speaking. And they're not keeping him in the hospital, so that's pretty good.
happyfish: (pancakes)
This makes so much sense it's kind of crazy. See, I tend to sleep from two in the morning till ten in the morning. No matter how tired I am or anything. It's just what happens. hrm. Interesting.

Busy weekend. Friday was the art night thing over at the Tranny Shack. Sometimes I wonder why I bother leaving that place at all; I'd been there the day before for New Year's. (Feeding the cat has to be one of the reasons, and because it's impossible to get any sort of privacy there unless you're in the bathroom). I'm sort of planning on buying a toothbrush and just leaving it there. I sort of feel like a u-haul when I say that, only I don't know who I'm u-hauling. xD
Anyway, I hung out and drew and knitted and saw Sasha for the first time in months. It was good. I left at about nine-thirty to go home and say good-bye to the 'rents, since I was supposed to sleep through the night and not be awake when the cab came to pick them up at four in the morning. I went to sleep at seven, and woke at eleven. Fun times. I had to have a bath at five because my cramps had gone all the way down my legs and I couldn't exactly wrap the heating pad around my entire lower body.
Saturday I hung around the house all day (I must have slept or something. I don't remember what I did). And then I headed of to Lacy's for the Chthulu-mas Party of Doom. Where there was excessive amounts of food and people. I met Meg for the first time, and she's pretty cool. We share an obsession for socks. xD And there was this adorable kitty there who was mostly unfazed by the hordes of people and let me cuddle her, which was nice but covered me in cat hair.
Lacy got me this monster key-chain which has a belly-button! omg. xD
Sunday was the board meeting for MYN. It was pretty dull and functional and wonderful. The last board meeting I went to (in September) traumatized me for a month due to the sheer amount of unneccesary, ridiculous drama. Hurrah for functional boards! Then Trevor and I went hung out at Kait's mom's place, where we did secret things and ate excessive amounts of gluten-free muffins. I love Kait's mom. She's so awesome.
And then we went sledding. Oh sledding. I haven't gone sledding in years. It was wicked. And I was the only person who didn't get injured in some way or another. Although I don't believe I've ever gotten really hurt sledding. Winded, quite often, but never really hurt. *knocks on wood*
Then I came home and cleaned the kitchen. The things under the burners are now clean, and the garbage (which was leaking and smelly) is now gone. The kitchen is about half-done now, and I should hopefully finish the rest of it tonight. I find it interesting how my parents leave and suddenly I realize that there is so much cleaning that I have to do. And take down all the Christmas decorations. Which I should also do tonight. *sigh*
Trying not to eat anything until it's a more reasonable time to eat supper. I'm not sure if I'm actually hungry or just bored. School starts on Thursday. I don't know if I'm excited or not. Doing nothing is kind of fun.

ETA: on second thought, five seems like a fine time for supper. mmm...food.

I had a dream where I was a dragonrider. It was really freaking cool.

My parents come home today. Trevor comes home tomorrow. It may be minus forty, but life seems pretty good right now.

happyfish: (Fall)
So Thursday was crazy busy. I had silkscreening in the morning, with a critique I was late too. Stupid traffic. But class let out pretty much after that, and it was short, which gave me lots of time to head down to the AV suite and start taking pictures of my work for ACAD200. Red was there. It didn't take too long, and the guy was super nice and super helpful.
Then I went home and prepared for the show. Spent two hours putting contacts in and then practicing my makeup so that I'd know how to do it well and quickly. I've come to the conclusion that contact lenses are evil. Then I ran around like crazy trying to make sure I brought everything and had eaten something and just generally was prepared. And then I ran flailing for the bus...
It was the Hallowe'en show, hence the make-up. We kind of figured people would be in more of a Hallowe'en mood at the beginning of October than a week into November. It went amazingly well. I managed to organize getting all of the performances video-taped, so they'll be uploaded to Youtube sometime over the next month. (They're on several different cameras, and thus on several different computers). I was part of Thriller in both shows, and it was so much fun. xD
It was amusing to see when people clued in to the fact that I was doing a Roy impersonation during the second show. Taz didn't realize until just before I went on. Em didn't realize until AFTER I'd started performing. xD I'm still slightly jealous of Kait for having facial hair that's so easy to put on. Jeronimo's can be such a pain sometimes.
Friday I rested. Slept in. Did some cleaning and a load of laundry. Then Trevor called and invited me to stay with him at his new place over the weekend. Since I hadn't hung out with him really in over a week I said yes. We were going to go dancing Saturday night and to Calaway Park on Sunday anyway. So I went over and saw his new place, which is still in the midst of being renovated. There was no stove when I was there, and no running water in the basement. If you had to pee, you had to go upstairs and use the slightly sketchy bathroom there. But there were also two two-month old kittens there who are absolutely adorable. Unless you're trying to sleep.
We spent Friday night watching TV, and then headed out Saturday morning (after he tried to do some reading for his homework and I did a couple of sketches for mine). We went to Phil's restaurant for some breakfast, since we couldn't cook without a stove, and then off to A Little More Interesting because Trevor wanted to buy a strap-on.
(An aside: A Little More Interesting is one of the best sex-toy stores I've been in. It's nice, and open and they have natural light and friendly people. It isn't creepy, and Trevor can go there without dying because almost none of their stuff has latex in it. Win. If I ever have money and an excuse to buy a sex toy, that's where I'm going.)
Jen met us there. We wandered around for a bit, watched Trevor buy stuff, and then went back to his place.  We didn't really do anything. At all. I don't know how that day passed so quickly, because I never did so much of nothing for a very long time.
That night was Jen's going-away dance. It was at Twisted, and pretty fun. Until I got tired and it got really crowded. I went back to crash at the place Jen's staying because Trevor was sick and didn't go to Twisted at all.
I woke up this morning, ate cold pizza for breakfast, and then headed out to Calaway Park. It was a rather cool morning, really, but Trevor (whose idea this was) wanted to go on the log ride. A LOT. So we did. And got soaked and froze and generally had a pretty good time. I haven't gone on any sort of ride for a really long time. I'd forgotten how much fun they were. Next summer I'll have to go back some more.
I'm currently trying to finish some of the homework I've put off all weekend, with mixed sort of results. I feel rather distracted, and I'm also trying to upload the last of the Fake Mustache videos that were on my camera as well as do another load of laundry.
Really, though, I just kind of want to play Guitar Hero some more.
happyfish: (Default)
So. Busy weekend. I posted a note on facebook earlier last week, saying something along the lines of 'hey, I'm going to be unemployed soon, who wants to hang out?' Next thing I knew my weekend was booked. I like having friends. <3
Friday was Kait's 'fresh start' party, on the day that would have been her wedding back before she broke up with her fiancee. There's a lot of drama involved in that, but I'm mostly not part of any of it, so it's ok. Anyway, lots of people there. Mostly people I don't know. The Hatches, they are a cheerful bunch. Hung out with the kings once they all got there, and met new people by showing them my sketchbook. It's an interesting way to meet people, especially because there's the picture of the nekkid lady in there as well. xD It was rad. And there was so much food, omg.
I'm still trying to figure out if Keiko remembers me or is just being super nice. And I think I spelt her name wrong.
Saturday was my last day of work. So now I'm officially unemployed. Work wasn't all that exciting, except that quite a few of my coworkes seemed genuininely sad to see me go. Especially my supervisor. It was rather warm and fuzzy making. Still not going back anytime soon though.
Saturday night was rollerskating and dancing with Tracy and Lacy! Gods, I haven't seen those two in far too long. Rollerskating was fun, although there were these really annoying kids that kept getting in the way and then falling over and stuff. They didn't play any of my requests, but we didn't stay there that long anyway. We went off to the Back Alley at like nine. It was ok at first. Not too crowded or anything. I think I had more alcohol that night than I have in the past six months. xD But I didn't get a hangover, and I still remember everything, so  you know. Not that everything that happened that night was worth remembering - so many drunken assholes. Augh. Wanted to hit someone. Still, I had my first boobie shot from the wonderful Megan, who is completely adorable. Got a ride home, too, from Jack. Always nice to not have to pay more for cab fare than I do for drinks.
Yesterday I did nothing. It was nice. xD I was supposed to go hang out with Em and Megs last night at Twisted, but they cancelled due to fatigue from their trip to Drumheller or something. I was a little disappointed, haven't seen either of them in a while, but I was also super tired from Saturday so it was nice to not have to do anything but laze around all day. Play guitar hero, you know. xD
Trevor's coming over today! hurrah! He's out of the hospital again, so we're going to play guitar hero (slighty obsessed, perhaps) in my basement because it's too fucking hot to go outside today. Eat lots of ice cream. Should be good times. Whenever he shows up...since he didn't say.
So yeah, that's it. Life is good. xD
happyfish: (Leaf on the Wind)
Heh. been rather busy I suppose. Mom and Dad started cleaning all the carpets before the relatives got here for the wedding, and last week they decided to finish all the rooms they'd missed. Which meant a lot of moving around of furniture and such, seeing as you can't clean the carpet if there's something on it. Part of the way through this process, when I was vacuuming out my brother's old room, I decided that I wanted it. It's larger than mine, and the walls are a nice blue colour. I'm kind of tired of people saying I have the gayest room ever, just because the walls are purple and I have these sparkly high heels that I used for an art project way back when. The blue walls help a little. Very little. heh. oh well.
Work's keeping me busy as well. I'm working 35-37 hours a week, despite the fact that when I got the job they told me I'd only be working 25. I'm almost over probation, which doesn't really matter much anymore. I'm planning on handing in my two-weeks notice soon. I want a couple weeks off before school, to relax a bit and hang out with friends.
Last week they offered me a supervisor position in a different department. It was - weird. Flattering, I guess, in a way. I'm glad that my work is appreciated and all. I enjoy my job, I really do. I like the atmosphere now that some of the annoying people are gone and we have a good supervisor now. I like being good at something, even if that something wasn't that hard to begin with. And I definitely like having money in the bank. Especially now that it's not all going to disappear as soon as September rolls around. I think I might get a tattoo. Finally.
Not much else to say, really. Been visiting Trevor as much as I can. Man, I miss him. I miss our weekends of sitting around doing nothing and watching silly movies. Hopefully he'll be out soon, and can find a place to live that isn't filled with drama and Natalie (same thing, really). At the moment I'd still be more worried about him if he was back at his place then if he stays in the hospital for a little longer. That's just a little sad, you know?
Fake Mustache is coming up soon! Crap, there's only a month left of summer. Actually, that's pretty exciting. I can't wait for school.
happyfish: (Focus)
Went to the Celebration dance yesterday. It was - interesting. A lot of the people I normally hang with (Kait, Megs, Em etc) were away camping, so I was left with the kings and people that I don't normally hang with. Not that I'm on bad terms with anyone. It's just - not so much fun. Got head-molested again. The problem with having really short, fuzzy hair. No one can keep their hands off it. lol.
One performance number made it all worth it though. A dance troupe, in little ruffly booty shorts and corsets (bright red) dancing to Candy Man. Then they removed the corsets, turned around and suddenly there were pasties with sparklers on them! Ah! It was wondrous. I mean, fire and half-naked women, where can you go wrong? (in so many ways, but you know. shush)
Stole my brother's Love Inc cd today. Man, haven't listened to Love Inc since I was about twelve. Takes me back a bit. To the time where Ben would play only one CD over and over again till I knew all the words whether I wanted to or not. Still know most of them, and I'm absurdly proud of that fact, for some reason. I remember being the youth pastor's kid, the one too young for most of the activities ('cause they went on past my bedtime) but who got to participate anyway. Being dragged around in a minivan as we drove everyone home. Back when I used to get tired at eleven. I used to like the Backstreet Boys and the Spice Girls and Digimon, though you could never get me to admit liking the latter. Living in Beddington, with the trees that grew taller than ten feet, and the nankin cherry bushes and always accidently throwing the basketball over the fence into our neighbour's yard. God, that was so long ago...
Going to visit Trev tomorrow, maybe. Went to see him on Friday, but he was sleeping. He might be sleeping tomorrow, but we'll see. I'll be able to get to Rockyview in my sleep soon, which I find rather scary. I wish I didn't have to go there at all.

happyfish: (rose tint my world)
So last night was Fake Mustache. It was insane, but in a good way. (Well, I think there actually was some drama, but since I was totally not within hearing range, I didn't have to kill anybody).
I got there at six since I was at Trevor's house and Kait picked us up with the stereo. I actually got to help with setting up, because usually there isn't much to do and I just sit there and watch Kait twitch and sometimes offer masking tape. The early show was the amature competition. Some of the new kings (most of which had never preformed before that night) were pretty good. Some were just painful to watch. And I wasn't just watching; I was taking videos for the Fake Mustache youtube account. I never really thought that sitting and not being able to move for two hours would be painful, but I just thought it'd be cool to have videos, not the details of what getting them would entail. I was using my crappy digital camera, 'cause Nat took her camera to Montreal and Meg's brother wasn't there. The batteries died three times during the first show, and then the memory card was full three songs before the end. It was exciting.
LJ was giving out pride gifts in the intermission. And she got me keyboard suspenders! They're sweet.
The late show was fucking amazing. Like, wow. I did the Big Pants Dance, again. But now there's video evidence, or there will be when I upload the videos. (It'll take me about a month with my current schedule, so don't hold your breath). It's so much more fun to do the Big Pants Dance onstage then in my kitchen. I freaking hate practicing it. If it weren't for the fact that everybody loves that song, I'd never do it again. Ever.
The rest of the kings did amazing, though I didn't watch all of them. Costume changes and all. Trev and I did 'If You Were Gay.' Which is another song I never want to hear again. But it was fun. And there was a new king who wore the gayest pants ever. Seriously. He out-gayed Max and I didn't even think that was possible.
The last song was the most amazing. Taz dragged her girlfriend on-stage, played a song on her guitar that she wrote herself, and then fucking proposed! If I hadn't been squeeing like a little girl I would have been crying. It was the sweetest thing ever. Just - gah. It was awesome.
This morning I got up at five-thirty after two-ish hours of sleep and went to work. Came home, collapsed for a bit, and then went to Meg's birthday party. It was pretty fun. Just hanging out and making dirty comments at each other. Em was there, so we couldn't help it.

That's it for now. but omfg pride is on Sunday! I'm excited and crazy stressed and I hope I can eat and/or sleep sometime before then. It would kind of suck if I passed out in the middle of the parade.

Going to bed now...ciao
happyfish: (Hamlet's LJ entry)
Decided to un-friends-lock this, because I'm bored.

Trevor's in the hospital again. I told him I'd visit tomorrow, but now I'm scheduled to work. I wish they wouldn't change around my schedule without, you know, telling me. Apparently I wasn't supposed to work today and was supposed to work tomorrow. And I was supposed to instinctively know to check the schedules downstairs and not upstairs so I could figure that out. hrm. At least I now have Saturday off and can do things on the weekend. 'Course everyone's probably going to be busy.

ah well.

I want to watch Sweeny Todd again so I can say 'well, that was a close shave!' at inappropriate moments. Clearly I am going to hell.

Yup, that's it.
happyfish: (Focus)
Thursday was Fake Mustache. I didn't do anything during the day, except go over my songs once or twice. They were the kind of songs where I didn't have to go over them obsessively, so I didn't practice all day. Em, who is my ride-giver now that she's living way up in the north, gave me a ride to the Soda, though we were nearly late due to trains and bad traffic. Kait's car scares the crap out of me. I got in and mentioned that it didn't sound quite healthy and all Em's response was 'Just you wait until we get on the Deerfoot.' The wonderful chugga chugga chugga sound is apparently due to a cracked axle, which meant the wheels could fall off and send us all to a spectacular firey death.
It was all very reassuring.
The show went well, despite Trevor's nerves (which nearly made him pass out at certain points, nearly all the kings watched him throughout the night to make sure he was encouraged and breathing properly). I did two Jonathan Coulton songs, which were fun. I wish there was less awkwardness backstage, though. I guess it's to be expected, what with all that's been happening, but I just - remember what it was like when the troupe wasn't split off in to separate groups of people on one side or another or just plain confused and trying to be neutral. There were several angry break-up songs in the show.
After it was over I went and crashed at Trevor's house, where the cat tried to sleep on my stomach all night. It's very cute, but purrs like a freaking harley and that's not quite so cute when it's keeping me awake.
Friday was Kait's birthday party. Trev and I went and bought her presents (almost all of them rainbow) during the day, and then hopped on the bus to Swan's Pub in Inglewood. The party was sweet, though I nearly died because Trev made a wisecrack whilst I was taking a drink. Jerk. People kept coming and leaving, rearranging the tables constantly and driving the poor waitress nearly crazy because no one would stay in the same seat for more than five minutes. It's ok, though, she was a good sport about it and I'm sure everyone tipped her well. There were plans to kidnap her and drag her to the next show, which she seemed to think more fun than working.
Got sick yesterday. Still not quite sure what I have, just feel really crappy. I've been having a lot of hot baths because I can't warm up. Drinking lots of tea. Mmm...tea. I still managed to enjoy the beautiful weather today, though. I freaking love spring. And warmth.
I need a job. Bah. After I get better. I hate being sick.
happyfish: (Leaf on the Wind)
Friday night was fun. Em picked me up, and managed to not get lost, which was impressive. Then I hung out all evening with her and Kait and we painted and ate really, really spicy home-made salsa. And talked about how it's weird that all these sixth graders are all into music and fashion, seeing how, when we were twelve, overalls were the coolest things ever. Especially if they were green cord overalls. It was sort of like a stitch and bitch, only with paintings.
Yesterday I attempted to do some research for my final FDTN paper. By five I was completely sick of it and ready to leave and do anything else. At all. Trevor finally called me, and we decided to go to twisted to the drag show. Which was pretty awesome, though dom showed up at the last second and was in the show. So we moved to the back, but by the time he was on, I was pretty drunk, and able to watch. It wasn't that impressive. He only got a dollar as a tip, and, I mean, some of the queens got a crapload more. Especially the really hot one in the white dress, whose name I can't remember. Because she was awesome.
We ran into Em in the washroom and then hung out with her and Kait and Megan and Patrick. I got really drunk off two drinks. Because I am that cool. It was pretty wicked, though really hot. I was wearing a long-sleeved shirt under a short-sleeved one, which wasn't good planning. And then, because I didn't really care at that point, I exchanged them right off the corner of the dance floor. While not binding or wearing an undershirt or anything. Em and Megan didn't even pretend that they weren't watching and enjoying it. Heh.
Headed back to Trev's place, where it took forever for the room-mates to stop bursting into the room and going 'bow-chica bow WOW!' all the time. And then, 'cause I'm well into the process of getting a cold, I didn't really fall asleep until six in the morning.
People keep thinking I'm with people, and I'm not. Do I have to put up a message saying that, no, I really am just flirting because now I'm allowed? I've gotten asked twice if I'm going out with Eric, and then once if I'm going out with Trevor.
I'm still single, people. Really. Promise.
Rachel and Erin came to Trev's place at, like, eleven this morning. They're all like, we're here to hang out with Trevor, who was very hung over at that point. He's too cool to drink water before going to bed. So I had two cups of coffee, and went out with them to see Horton Hears a Who! because I really, really don't want to write my paper, and wasn't going to do it today anyway. Really cute movie. They did a much better job than they did for the Grinch.
Didn't eat anything until three? Probably not the greatest idea. I should go eat something. And work on my paper.
