happyfish: (Yay)
Went to Inglewood with the 'rents today. I have new books! And a new t-shirt (with fascist-killing plaid on it, what), and an Ikea catalogue!

Didn't get the last one in Inglewood, but you know. New stuff! Wicked! And I haven't had a new Ikea catalogue in years. They stopped delivering them to our house randomly a while back.

Anyway, I'm super tired for no reason. I'm going to go curl up in bed and look at strangely-named furniture. :D

So it's been a while. I think. Life's been good. :)
On Tuesday I went to Value Village to see if I could get some random fabric to use for something, since I don't have enough disposable income to actually go to Fabric Land. Stepped on the hem of my pants on the way and was suddenly very well acquainted with the pavement. I have the most amazing bruises ever. I almost want to take pictures of them. And I always seem to fall flat on my face while in front of someone, so I can't just lie there for a minute catching my breath, I have to sit up immediately and be all like 'oh no, I'm perfectly fine, don't worry about me,' and then limp off with the salvaged remains of my pride. But it's all good. My arms have been sort of sore recently, and I think it's because of that. Not quite sure, but nothing else seems to make much sense. (I got all out when tripping over my feet. I bruised my hip. Ahaha. I rule.)
Anyway, the trip to Value Village went fabulously well. I got there and discovered it was 50% off absolutely everything day. :D So I got a crapload of stuff (and fabric) for much less than I thought I would. So awesome.
I've recently discovered the wonderfullness that is steampunk, and am hoping to add some steamy kind of details to my wardrobe. We'll see what happens. Mostly just spending a lot of time making wistful noises over stuff other people have made or found. Plus I've always wanted an excuse to wear goggles absolutely everywhere.
And big guns. And Victorian-esque clothes. And space pirates. *sigh*
(space pirates with big guns in Victorian-esque clothes! You know you love it)
I've actually managed to do some studying during reading week, between being very distracted by the internet and sewing my brains out. I made a backpack type thing in about one evening. It was about four hours of straight sewing. I'm insane. I need to learn how to stop, or at least take breaks. Or acquire slaves to bring me food so I don't starve to death in the middle of making something.
Went to a poetry reading last night, which was pretty cool. The featured artist sang for all of her pieces, and she was completely amazing. I need to start writing poetry again. I've just been in this sort of non-writing mood for a while. It seems to be passing though. I'm getting back into this thing where I want to be doing about twelve different personal projects at once. It's how I know I'm better, mentally. Because I haven't been like that in a really long time. Once I started wanted to write a webcomic I knew all was well. (Unmedicated again, too. Damn withdrawal sucks ass. I don't know if I want to go back on my meds again, just so I never have to go through that again. Ugh. Suppose I should ask the advice of a professional on that one, though, or at least wait and see if I start getting bad again in a while. I figure that the thing that was stressing me out and pulling me down the most is now out of my life for good, so I should be ok.)
I've started drinking coffee. whee! :D:D:D:D:D
I went to the Alphabet Soup thing again tonight. There were a lot more people there this time. As soon as Jess (Taz's Jess) saw me she was all like 'Get up!' in this scary voice so I did. And then she gave me this big hug and was all like 'I fucking adore you.' It was sweet. I'm glad I went. and there was free food. And coffee. Oh the coffee.
I should shut up now.
I found headphones in a puddle last week and then took them home and sanitized them and they totally work. It's awesome.

So this weekend was fun. Went shopping with [personal profile] girlnamedxena and [personal profile] staranise at this new sari place that opened up. I'm still kind of giddy about how colourful that fabric was. Why can't white people wear pretty colours? It just doesn't seem quite fair. Also, I was pleasantly surprised to discover one of my ex-coworkers actually owns the store. I daresay we're definately going back once odango's finished making many clothes with her sari. Think I'll make a swing dress out of the fabric I bought.
Mmm...samosas. I need to start eating somewhat spicy food again so I don't burn my mouth out with food like that. I like samosas.
Today Caro and I went to Kensington to see if Extraordinary Toys had finished its renovations. It was. Hurrah! Lots of playing. =D The store was full of adults and they were all playing with the toys. If I lived closer to Kensington, I'd totally want to work there.
Started my Christmas/Midwinter shopping, which makes me happy. Hopefully I'll get most of it done before December so I don't have to worry about things like...Christmas music. *shudders* Actually one store was playing Christmas music. I feel really, really sorry for the salespeople there.
I might start my garb tomorrow! Have I mentioned that I hate fabric shopping? Mostly because I'm never sure exactly what I want to get, and then I'm intimidated by all the old ladies who actually know how to sew.
MEMAGE: (it's supposed to be in a lj-cut, but it doesn't appear to be working. >.<)
